SCDC: Correctional officer attacked at local prison by several inmates

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — According to the Department of Corrections,  a guard at the Broad River Correctional facility was stabbed today.

Officials say several inmates attacked the officer earlier today.

A spokesperson for the department says the officer was taken to an area hospital where he expected to be released.

The Department of Corrections and SLED are investigating.
