Two Strikes Means Life for Greenville Armed Robber

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) _ Authorities say a 50-year-old man has been sentenced to life in prison under South Carolina’s two strikes law after he held a Dollar General manager at knifepoint in a robbery where he took $22. Prosecutors said in a news release that James Bailey was found guilty Friday of armed robbery, kidnapping and other charges. He was sentenced to life in prison because he had 11 other armed robbery convictions, triggering the state’s two-strike law. Investigators say Bailey went into a Dollar General in Greenville in April 2013, holding a knife to the manager’s throat and demanding money. Authorities say an employee called 911 and deputies arrested Bailey as he walked out of the store with $22.
