Green takes 2nd term working with employers, Guard

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — The Defense Department has appointed Columbia real estate broker John Green to his second 3-year term as chairman of the South Carolina Committee for Employer Support for the National Guard and Reserve.

Agency spokesman Tom Bullock said Tuesday that Green was appointed to the volunteer post by David McGinnis, the acting assistant secretary of defense for reserve affairs.

Green heads a team of more than 100 volunteers across the state. They work with employers to maintain support for employees who are active in the National Guard and Reserve and ensure that any potential issues or questions about their service are handled.

Green served more than 30 years with the Air Force Reserve and retired as a major general from the South Carolina Military Department.
