Columbia , S.C. (WOLO) — The Chapin community is rallying behind one of its own. Chapin High School held a pep rally Friday to show their support for one of their lacrosse players who broke his neck in a game more than a week ago. “Hey man, I love you and miss you and I’ll see you soon,” said Connor Enright during Friday’s pep rally. “You’ve got a tough road ahead of you but you’ve got amazing support behind you and we’re gonna be there every step of the way and we just want you to know that we will pray for Jack! We will pray for Jack!” Students and faculty at Chapin High School came together Friday for a pep rally to support junior Jack Enright. “He’s got a long road ahead of him,” said principal Dr. Akil Ross. Enright suffered a broken neck injury in a lacrosse match earlier this month. According to a go-fund-me page for Jack, he had surgery but still can’t move his lower body. “Nothings really changed yet but his spirits have definitely been lifted knowing all the support that’s come his way,” said his brother Connor Enright. By Friday afternoon, the community had raised more than $13,000 on their go-fund me page and Friday students continued collecting donations and started making a video message to encourage Jack on his road to recovery. “Massing all of the support in one place, it gives you a visual of how many people are out there praying for you, supporting you, rooting you on and if that’s just a little bit more encouragement for that young man during that time then have that success today,” said Dr. Ross. Enright’s also getting well wishes from his local and national lacrosse family. “It means the world, we knew that our close family and friends would be behind us but we didn’t know that the entire Chapin community and so much beyond Chapin has been behind us,” said Connor Enright. While Chapin High School rallies behind Jack, he is recovering in a rehabilitation center in Atlanta. The school is also planning on selling ‘Team Jack’ t-shirts, magnets, and wristbands.
