Unwatched Pot Causes Fire At Florence Fire Station
FLORENCE, S.C. (AP) _ At least the firefighters at one Florence fire station didn’t have to go too far to answer a recent call. Authorities say a Florence firefighter left an unwatched pot on a stove which caused a blaze that damaged the station. Florence Fire Chief Randall Osterman told WPDE-TV (http://bit.ly/vnqW09 ) that fellow firefighters helped put out the flames at Fire Station Three on Tuesday night. Osterman says the firefighter told him he only walked outside for a minute. Flames were already covering the kitchen cabinet when he returned. Osterman didn’t have a damage estimate, but says the station’s kitchen will have to be remodeled. The chief did not identify the firefighter. Osterman says he will be disciplined, but he won’t release the punishment because it is a personnel matter.
