Founders credit union to return money to members
LANCASTER, S.C. (AP) — A Lancaster-based credit union is returning $10 million to its members.
The Herald of Rock Hill reports Friday (http://bit.ly/rvrweF ) that Founders Federal Credit Union members will receive an average of $100 in their savings account Nov. 30. The exact amount will be based on members’ Oct. 31 account balances.
President and CEO Bruce Brumfield says the dividend is a way to thank and help members who have struggled during the economic downturn.
Founders’ announcement follows a decision by the credit union’s board to give the 490 full-time employees a $1,300 one-time bonus. Part-time employees received $650.
This marks the fifth time in 11 years that Founders has distributed a dividend. This year’s is the largest.
The credit union was started in 1950 to serve workers of Springs textile mills.
