UofSC nursing students log more than 5,000 hours helping fight the pandemic in SC

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– For much of the past year, nursing students at the University of South Carolina have been doing their part in the fight against COVID-19. According to the university, 571 nursing students and 49 faculty members logged 5,474 hours in Midlands testing and vaccine clinics.

“I volunteered at a vaccine site as my commitment to serve, strengthen, and improve the health of our community,” says student Kimya Shosan. “By doing my part, I contributed to a massive effort that is very fulfilling.”

According to the university, student volunteers assisted at nine sites, including the Dorn VA, UofSC Veterans Clinic, Kershaw Health and Piedmont Medical Center.
