CPD announces second arrest made in Columbiana Centre shooting investigation, looking for another suspect

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– In a press conference held Monday afternoon, Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook announced the arrest of a second man in connection with Saturday’s shooting at the Columbiana Centre.

Chief Holbrook says 20-year-old Marquise Love Robinson is charged with nine counts of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, one count of attempted murder and unlawful carrying of a pistol. He is currently being held at the Lexington County Detention Center, with a bond hearing scheduled for Tuesday morning.

In addition to announcing this new arrest, Chief Holbrook says officers are looking for a third suspect. Police say Amari Sincere-Jamal Smith is wanted on nine counts of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, attempted murder and unlawful carrying of a pistol.

Police say Jewayne Price, who is already in custody for Saturday’s shooting, will also be charged with an additional nine counts of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature as well as attempted murder. In court on Sunday, the judge set Price’s bond at $25,ooo with the requirement that he wears an ankle monitor and will be on house arrest. The judge will allow Price to travel from home to work certain times of the day. The judge also prohibits Price from going to the mall and contacting the injured victims or other persons involved in the shooting.

Online records indicate Price is still being held at the Lexington County Detention Center.

State Representative Todd Rutherford is representing Price. Rutherford told the judge Price had nothing to do with the victims being shot. Rutherford also says Price has no prior record or convictions and is not a danger to the public.However, Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott released a statement that says Price was charged by the Richland County Sheriff’s Department with accessory after the fact in connection with the murder of 17-year-old Amon Rice.
Columbia Mayor Daniel Rickenmann released a statement after the shooting Saturday. He says it is important to support the law enforcement agencies working to serve justice.

Prisma Health released additional information about the victims injured in the mall shooting. Of the 11 patients received in Prisma Health hospitals in the Midlands, nine have been treated and released. Two patients were admitted Saturday night. Columbia Police however, says after speaking with various hospitals, 14 total victims were injured this weekend. We’re told the only victim who continues to receive medical treatment at a local hospital is the 73-year-old female. All of the other victims have been treated and released, or will be released shortly.
