Current, ex-lieutenant governor attend as seniors get $50K

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina’s current and a former lieutenant governor are getting together to accept a $50,000 donation to help seniors, especially those affected by the historic flooding in South Carolina.

Lt. Gov. Henry McMaster and College of Charleston President Glenn McConnell plan to attend the Tuesday event in Columbia when South Carolina Electric & Gas presents the donation to Sustaining Our Seniors.

The nonprofit was organized to assist seniors when McConnell served as lieutenant governor. The state’s Office on Aging is operated out of the lieutenant governor’s office.

In addition to the cash donation, SCE&G is also presenting two vehicles to Home Works of America which works with Sustaining Our Seniors in repairing homes for the elderly and people who cannot afford repairs.
