Orangeburg woman charged with unlawful neglect of a child
ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WOLO) — The Orangeburg County Sheriff‘s Office has charged a woman after a nine-year-old child called 911 claiming to have been assaulted. Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said 22-year-old Dynasty Boneparte was charged with unlawful neglect of a child Saturday after deputies saw the woman strike the child. “Our officers were investigating this child‘s claims when the woman hits her in the chest in front of the officers,” the sheriff said. “The officers immediately charged this woman and brought DSS in to remove the child from the home.” Boneparte was given a $5,000 personal recognizance bond during a hearing Sunday. The call came in around 10 a.m. Saturday when the girl called 911 saying the woman had punched her in the face during an incident on Friday, and believed she was going to be struck again on Saturday. When deputies arrived they informed the woman they were sent to the North Trail Road residence after a child had reported an assault. The woman then became angry and struck the child, according to the report. The girl was immediately removed from the home to be temporarily placed with a relative. The charge carries a maximum of 10 years in prison.
