FSU Salvages Game Three At Clemson 9-5

Top-ranked Florida State pounded out 16 hits en route to a 9-5 win over Clemson in front of 4,965 fans in the second game of a doubleheader at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Monday night. The Seminoles, who clinched the ACC Atlantic Division title win the victory, improved to 41-11 overall and 22-5 in the ACC. The Tigers, who won the series 2-1, fell to 31-21 overall and 16-11 in ACC play.

USC’s Greiner To Play For Team USA

South Carolina freshman catcher Grayson Greiner has been selected to the roster for the 2012 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team, it was announced on Monday afternoon. It is the ninth time in school history for a player to be selected to the collegiate team and it is the third consecutive season a Gamecock has been named to the team.

Clemson Starts FSU Doubleheader With 9-7 Win

Clemson scored nine combined runs in the first four innings and held on for a 9-7 victory over #1 Florida State in the first game of a doubleheader at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Monday afternoon. The Tigers, who took a 2-0 series lead, improved to 31-20 overall and 16-10 in the ACC. The Seminoles fell to 40-11 overall and 21-5 in ACC play. Clemson’s 31st win of the year also assured the Tigers of a final winning record for the 48th consecutive season and a final non-losing record for the 55th straight year.

Byrd Finishes Players Championship 12th

Former Clemson and Spring Valley standout Jonathan Byrd shot a final round of even par to finish the Players Championship six under par. That earned him a tie for 12th and almost $200,000 in prize money. Matt Kuchar won the Players by two shots finishing 13 under.

Rain Washes Out Sunday For USC And Clemson

Both Carolina and Clemson were rained out Sunday. USC will not make up its series finale against Georgia. Clemson will try to make up Sunday’s rain out with a doubleheader against #1 Florida St Monday. The first game will start at 1 p.m. on ESPNU. Game two is set for 6 p.m. on ESPNU.

USC Rallies But Loses To Georgia, 6-5 in 10

Despite a four-run rally from third ranked South Carolina in the top of the ninth inning, Georgia’s Joey Delmonico would tally a RBI base hit to left-center in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift the Bulldogs to a 6-5 win over the Gamecocks on Saturday afternoon at Foley Field. South Carolina is now 38-13 and 17-9 in the SEC with Georgia improving to 29-22 and 13-13 in league play.
