Crash In Sumter Kills Two And Injures One

SUMTER, S.C. (AP) Two men have died and a third has been flown to a Columbia hospital after a truck rolled over and ignited in flames in Sumter County. Emergency responders found one man apparently thrown from the vehicle who was declared dead at the scene. Coroner Harvin Bullock said a second man appeared to have been trapped in the backseat. He also was pronounced dead at the scene.

Midlands Bridge to Close for a Year

South Carolina Department of Transportation officials say they plan to replace the bridge on South Lafayette Dr. (US 15) near Sumter in Sumter County. It's a project they say will take 16 months.
