Educators Protest Refusal of Federal Funding

About 50 people have gathered outside the headquarters of the Department of Education to protest the South Carolina school chief's refusal to pursue what could have been $144 million in federal money to keep teaching jobs.

Bittersweet Ending to Free Health Care Event

Thanks to the efforts of more than 1,500 volunteers, SC Mission 2011: Midlands, a free health care event held on August 5 and 6 at the Carolina Coliseum, provided health care services to more than 2,000 people. However, not everyone received treatment.
