COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Sen. Vincent Sheheen's latest TV ad criticizes Gov. Nikki Haley's pre-election-year budget vetoes to public education and accuses her of vetoing 4-year-old kindergarten, though her campaign points out she actually signed legislation expanding the program.

State Trooper Fired

olumbia, SC (WOLO)- A state trooper is off the job tonight...fired. Lance Corporal . S.M. Groubert was terminated by Public Safety Director Leroy Smith. According to the department on September Fourth Groubert fired shots at an unarmed man on during a traffic stop at a circle-k convenience store off Broad River Road.

SC pension fund's worth rises to $30 billion

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — The director of the agency that invests South Carolina's pension portfolio says investments earned $4 billion last fiscal year, pushing the fund's worth to nearly $30 billion.
