Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson has been named the National Quarterback of the Week by the Davey O’Brien Award. Watson completed 27-36 passes for 435 yards and six touchdowns in Clemson’s win over North Carolina. It was Watson’s first career start at quarterback for the Tigers.

Quarterback Deshaun Watson and punter Bradley Pinion were both honored with player-of-the-week selections by the ACC on Monday. Watson was named co-offensive back-of-the-week along with NC State quarterback Jacoby Brissett, while Watson also earned rookie-of-the-week honors. Pinion was named co-special teams player-of-the-week with Justin Vogel of Miami (Fla.).

Monday the ACC set the game time for Clemson's October 11th home game against Louisville for 3:30 p.m. It will air on either ABC, ESPN2 or ESPNU. The network will be determined after this Saturday's games.

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney has his head held high and believes his Tigers should, too, despite their 1-2 start. Swinney said Tuesday Clemson played well and with purpose in a 23-17 overtime loss at No. 1 Florida State last Saturday. Swinney was as frustrated as anyone with the Tigers' mistakes _ two missed field goals, a high snap over the quarterback's head on the FSU 1, a late fumble with Clemson driving for the go-ahead score _ but believes there's a bigger picture to see about where the team is headed this season.

Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson has been named the ACC Rookie of the Week. This past Saturday evening Watson came off the bench and completed 19-28 passes for 266 yards in a 23-17 overtime loss at number-one ranked Florida State.

Clemson freshman receiver Artavis Scott has been named ACC Receiver of the Week. CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — Three players suspended from No. 23 Clemson's opening week at loss at Georgia are returning to face South Carolina State on Saturday.

The Clemson men’s soccer team fell to South Carolina by a score of 2-1 in double over time on Tuesday evening at Stone Stadium in Columbia, S.C. The Tigers fall to 1-1 with the loss, while the Gamecocks improve to 1-1. It was the second straight year that the game between the two teams reached double overtime. In 2013, the Tigers won on a golden goal by Thales Moreno, scored 1:36 into the second extra period. This year, the Gamecocks’ Koty Millard scored the game winner 2:12 into the second overtime.

Former Tiger Ben Paulsen was called up to the majors with the Colorado Rockies on Monday and made his MLB debut that night as the starter at first base against the Washington Nationals at Coors Field in Denver, Colo. He went 2-for-4 with an RBI, as he totaled a team-high two hits from the sixth spot in the lineup.
