Delmarva edges Fireflies, 8-7 in series-opener at Spirit Comm Park

Columbia and Delmarva revealed just how prolific its offenses were early on Saturday night. The clubs totaled 14 runs in the first three innings but the Shorebirds wound up winning the series opener, 8-7, at Spirit Communications Park. Scott Manea collected three hits and extended his on-base streak to 16 straight games.

Junior Adam Hill struck out eight in seven innings and the University of South Carolina baseball team scored a pair of runs in three separate innings in a 6-3 win over Missouri Saturday afternoon (May 12) at Founders Park. The win clinched a berth in the SEC Baseball Tournament in Hoover, Ala.

Clemson fights, but falls to top-seed & No. 2 Vanderbilt in NCAA Second Round

The 41st-ranked Clemson women’s tennis team gave a great effort, but was ultimately overpowered by Vanderbilt, the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament and the second-ranked team in the nation, falling 4-0 in the NCAA Second Round at the Currey Tennis Center in Nashville, TN on Saturday.

Gamecocks advance to SEC Championship with 3-1 win over Arkansas

No. 12 South Carolina broke the school record for home runs in a season on its way to a 3-1 win over No. 19 Arkansas in the first semifinal game of the SEC Softball Tournament at Mizzou Stadium on Friday. Tiara Duffy blasted a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth as the Gamecocks fought their way to their first SEC Tournament Championship appearance since 2001. 

#19 Coastal blanks Little Rock, 4-0

Jason Bilous posted a career-high 11 strikeouts over seven scoreless innings to lead #19 Coastal Carolina to a 4-0 victory over Little Rock Friday afternoon at Springs Brooks Stadium.

Fireflies gut out 8-3 win in series finale at Hickory

Columbia was aiming to leave Hickory with a victory and that’s exactly what Manager Pedro Lopez’s team did on Friday night. The Fireflies avoided being swept and defeated the Crawdads, 8-3. Columbia had trailed until the fourth inning before it took a lead it wouldn’t relinquish the rest of the night. The Fireflies are back to two games above .500 (18-16) and snapped their three-game losing skid.

Austin Peay stuns No. 8 Clemson, 6-3 Friday

Austin Peay scored four runs in the first two innings and held on for a 6-3 win over No. 8 Clemson at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Friday night. The Governors, who took a 1-0 lead in the series, improved to 30-20, while the Tigers dropped to 37-13.

Clemson upsets Ohio State 4-1 Friday to advance to NCAA Second Round

Clemson won the doubles point, and Tate Schroeder, Sydney Riley and Marie-Alexandre Leduc won their singles match, en route to the 41st-ranked Tigers’ 4-1 upset over 28th-ranked Ohio State (14-9) in the first round of the NCAA Championships in Nashville, Tenn. on Friday afternoon.

Clemson misses NCAA National Tournament by one shot

Wake Forest won a one-hole playoff by one shot over Clemson on Wednesday afternoon at the NCAA Tallahassee Regional  to advance to the NCAA National Championship tournament in Stillwater, Okla. on May 18.  It completed a wild back and forth day between the two ACC schools at the Don Veller Seminole Golf Course in Tallahassee, Fla.

No. 10 South Carolina women's tennis (19-6, 11-2 SEC) is set to host NCAA Regionals for the third straight season, meeting with Quinnipiac for the first time in program history at 2 p.m.Friday in the Round of 64 at the Carolina Tennis Center.

Fireflies fall to Hickory, 5-2 Thursday

Not many hitters in the South Atlantic League can keep pace with Quinn Brodey’s power numbers. The Mets prospect doubled twice on Thursday in Hickory, but the Crawdads got the better of the Fireflies, winning 5-2 at L.P. Frans Stadium.
