Claflin closes out 2018 regular season at Paine

The Claflin University men’s and women’s basketball teams will close-out the 2017-18 regular season, Monday, Feb. 19, when they travel to Augusta, Ga. to face Paine College in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) East Division contests.

Gamecocks take opening series with VMI

The University of South Carolina baseball team completed their series against VMI with a 9-0 shutout on Sunday afternoon (Feb. 18). A combined effort from a pitching staff that allowed just two hits and strong performances at the plate gave the Gamecocks the series win over the Keydets to start the season.

Tigers Sweep W&M With 2-1 Win

Jake Higginbotham tossed 5.1 strong innings to lead No. 12 Clemson to a 2-1 victory over William & Mary at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers, who swept the series 3-0 with three one-run wins, improved to 3-0 on the season, while the Tribe dropped to 0-3.

Gamecocks host Kentucky, seek season sweep Sunday

No. 8/8 South Carolina begins its final week of home games for the season Sunday against Kentucky. Tipoff at Colonial Life Arena is set for 3 p.m. on SEC Network. The Gamecocks (21-5, 10-3 SEC) have three games remaining this season, including two against teams also competing for one of the coveted top four seeds in the SEC Tournament, which begins Feb. 28 in Nashville.

Holden Leaves Men’s Basketball Team

University of South Carolina head men’s basketball coach Frank Martin announced on Saturday that junior guard Kory Holden has made the decision to no longer be part of the Gamecock men’s basketball program. Holden has seen action in 14 games this season, missing 11 contests due to a hamstring strain suffered in late December. Holden transferred to Carolina after two seasons at Delaware prior to the 2016-17 campaign.

USC stays strong over SIU in Gamecock Invitational

South Carolina softball extended its Gamecock Invitational winning-steak to 18 games with a 2-0 win over Southern Illinois on Saturday at Carolina Softball Stadium at Beckham Field. Dixie Raley went the distance in the circle, pitching a complete-game shutout coupled with 11 strikeouts to shut down SIU and move the Gamecocks to 7-1 on the year.
