Spurrier Holds First Press Conference

South Carolina head football coach Steve Spurrier held his first game week press conference of the 2012 season. It was held on a Monday instead of the normal Tuesday schedule because the Gamecocks play Thursday.

Clemson reported 10 NCAA secondary violations including two that involved female athletes who received prize money for outside competitions while enrolled in school.

Clemson To Hold Fan Appreciation Day Sunday

Clemson will hold its annual Fan Appreciation Day on Sunday, August 19 at Clemson Memorial Stadium. All Clemson players and Coach Swinney will be available for autographs beginning at 3:00 p.m. The session will last for two hours.

Clemson's Ford Ready To Move On With Raiders

Jacoby Ford is glad he got a clunker of a game out of the way in the preseason. The former Clemson standout had a rather forgettable exhibition opener for the Oakland Raiders. He dropped two passes, was unable to break up an interception on a deep ball from Carson Palmer and muffed a punt for Oakland (tied for No. 23 in the AP Pro32) in a 3-0 loss to Dallas on Monday night.

Sports Illustrated's college football preview hits the newsstands Wednesday. Clemson comes in ranked #14. Senior writer Austin Murphy previewed the Tigers and names Carlos Watkins as their key recruit and Travis Blanks as their breakout player for the 2012 season.

USC Men's Soccer wins in exhibition match

The South Carolina men's soccer team utilized nearly its entire team to earn a 6-3 victory over visiting Georgia State in an exhibition contest at Stone Stadium on Tuesday night. Sophomore midfielder Braeden Troyer and junior midfielder J.P. Rafferty both registered two goals to the lead the Gamecocks to victory.

Clemson Coaches Turn Up Pressure On Players

Clemson offensive coordinator Chad Morris says the coaching staff is turning up the heat on the players after Tuesday's preseason practice. Morris says everyone on offense should feel a little uneasy because no one’s job is safe. “It needs to be,” he said. “This isn’t happiness camp. Some of these guys get this in their mind that this could be happiness camp and it’s not that. We are coming out here and we are pushing these guys. We are driving these guys and straining them."

Gamecocks Practice Report: Tuesday

True freshman Shaq Roland continues to impress the Head Ball Coach. “Shaq Roland has a knack for going up and getting it at the last moment," Steve Spurrier said after the team's first to two workouts Tuesday morning. "He has the ability to get it at the highest point.”
