NCAA Selection Show FAMdemonium is Back

South Carolina women’s basketball invites fans to FAMdemonium at Colonial Life Arena on Sun., March 12. Doors will open at 6 p.m. for the event, which features food trucks, photo ops around the concourse and a performance art creation by Jared Emerson ahead of the NCAA Selection Show airing at 8 p.m. Admission to the event is free with general admission seating.

Zia Cooke named a finalist for Dawn Staley Award

South Carolina senior Zia Cooke is one of four finalists for the 2023 Dawn Staley Award, the Phoenix Club of Philadelphia announced over the weekend. She is the fourth Gamecock guard to be a finalist for the award, joining Destanni Henderson and award winners Tyasha Harris (2020) and Tiffany Mitchell (2015).

No. 1 South Carolina women rout Mississippi, reach SEC final

Laeticia Amihere scored 17 points and Aliyah Boston posted her 80th career double-double to lead No. 1 South Carolina into the SEC Tournament final for the eighth time in nine seasons with an 80-51 victory over Mississippi on Saturday.

No. 23 South Carolina rallies, toping Tigers 11-9

Carson Hornung’s three-run homer in the seventh inning gave No. 23 South Carolina an 8-7 lead in its 11-9 victory over Clemson at Fluor Field on Saturday afternoon. The Gamecocks, who evened the series 1-1 and snapped Clemson’s five-game winning streak in the rivalry series, improved to 10-1, while the Tigers fell to 5-5.

Late free throws lift South Carolina past Georgia, 61-55

Meechie Johnson scored 18 points and Jacobi Wright had 14 and the pair combined for five free throws in the last 3.6 seconds to give South Carolina a 61-55 win over Georgia on Saturday to close the regular season.

Boston on Wooden Award national ballot

South Carolina senior Aliyah Boston earned a spot on the 2023 John R. Wooden Award presented by Wendy’s National Ballot, the Los Angeles Athletic Club announced today on ESPN.com. She has appeared on the national ballot every year of her career, and she won the award in 2022.

Beal, Boston Named Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Semifinalists

SEC Champion South Carolina women’s basketball seniors Brea Beal and Aliyah Boston are among the 10 semifinalists for Naismith Women’s Defensive Player of the Year, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced today. Boston became the first Gamecock to win the award last season, and Beal is making her debut on the list this season.
