AG Wilson joins group seeking to prevent the Biden administration from enforcing unlawful interpretations of new antidiscrimination laws

South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson says he is joining a group of 19 other states in a lawsuit in the Eastern District of Tennessee seeking to prevent the Biden administration from enforcing unlawful interpretations of federal antidiscrimination laws regarding transgender athletes competing in women’s sports.

“As we have stated, the City of Columbia and our ordinance requiring facemasks in schools are not in violation of any state law. In fact, we are in compliance with South Carolina Constitutional law, which makes it our legal and ethical obligation to protect the health, safety and well-being of our citizens,” said Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin in a statement regarding AG Wilson’s lawsuit.
