“We want to have every tool at our disposal so we can make the decision locally on how to best forward as to how it pertains to our students and school district, “said Alvin Pressley, superintendent of Newberry County School District.
The Columbia Police Department says they are investigating a collision involving a school bus that took place on the 2200 block of Two Notch Road. Police say there were no serious injuries, but one student on the bus went to the hospital for a minor injury as a precaution. The driver of another vehicle was transported as well.
Richland One students were in for a treat today, as singer and actress Vanessa Williams came to pay a visit. The annual event is designed to ignite students’ interests in the arts.
“We can do better,” said Mayor Steve Benjamin. “We must do better. We have to work together.”
Despite results that are lower than previous years in English and math, there were areas of improvement shown by Richland One School District.

The school boards of both Richland One and Richland Two will host meetings tonight to discuss topics including mask wearing.
The City of Columbia’s Parks and Recreation Department, along with Richland School District One, will offer a free GED program at the Booker Washington Heights Community Center.
