Cities across SC hold elections Tuesday

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) âone space€one space” Voters in around 100 cities, counties and special tax districts across South Carolina head to the polls on Tuesday. There are no statewide issues, so the majority of South Carolina residents can stay home. Voters in Columbia and dozens of other smaller towns will be choosing mayors. Florence County voters are being asked whether to keep a special penny sales tax. Tuesday is the first November Election Day under South Carolina’s new voter ID law. Voters will be asked for a driver’s license, state-issued photo ID, passport or military ID. Anyone without a proper photo ID will cast a provisional ballot. Voters who sign a sworn statement saying they had a reasonable impediment to getting a photo ID will have their provisional ballots counted unless the affidavit is proven false.
