City Celebrates Black History Month

Columbia, SC (WOLO)–The City of Columbia is celebrating Black History Month with a family friendly event Monday.

The Black History Extravaganza will be held at Greenview Park and will feature vendors, live entertainment and exhibits.

According to City officials, this year’s guest speakers are Councilwoman Tameika Isaac Devine, and radio and TV personality Cynthia Hardy. Councilwoman Devine is the first African-American female to serve on City Council and the first African-American to be elected At-Large.

 The Black History Extravaganza is open to youth, adults and seniors age 55 and older. Greenview Park, 6700 David Street, Columbia, SC 29203

 Monday, February 15, 2016 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Tickets are $5 per person. Lunch will be provided. Tickets can be purchased at any recreation center or the Parks and Recreation Department Administration Office, 1111 Parkside Drive.
