SLED charging Sumter County man with murder, trafficking fentanyl
SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is charging a man with murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, and trafficking fentanyl.
Daejon Rashad Jackson, 22, is accused of shooting and killing Frederick Nelson Jr., around 12 times with a Taurus G2C gun.
Agents say after killing Nelson, Jackson tried to hide the murder by moving Nelson’s body to a wooded area in Rembert.
Nelson’s body was found wrapped in bed sheets, a comforter and a red tarp on November 26, 2023.
Also, SLED agents say Jackson is being charged with trafficking fentanyl due to law enforcement executing a search warrant for a different investigation which led to a box in his bedroom containing a plastic bag with a powder substance being found.
SLED forensics revealed the substance was positive for fluorofentanyl or its isomers and fentanyl.
Jackson was taken to the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center.
