COLUMBIA SC (WOLO)–There is a common belief, when it comes to real estate, that it is often cheaper to buy a home, even for a short time, than to rent.  Although, according to a CNBC report, this isn’t the case in a lot of the country, Jessica Luther, from Coldwell Banker, says that in many cases the cost of living in the south makes it a smart move to buy, even short term.

“There is a tipping point,” Luther says, when you can break even with a home purchase.  Luther points out that according to the report, cities including Columbia and Greenville are among the places where it may actually save money to buy a piece of the American Dream.
