Dozens of cities are holding elections in SC

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — It’s Election Day in South Carolina for dozens of counties, cities and towns. Tuesday is the first November Election Day under South Carolina’s new voter ID law. Voters will be asked for a driver’s license, state-issued photo ID, passport or military ID. Anyone without a proper photo ID will cast a provisional ballot. Voters who sign a sworn statement saying they had a reasonable impediment to getting a photo ID will have their provisional ballots counted unless county election officials determine the affidavit is false. There are no statewide issues, but Columbia and dozens of smaller cities are choosing mayors. Florence County voters are being asked whether to keep a special penny sales tax.
