Couple wins $100,000 on scratch-off after burger run
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– A burger run ended with a lottery win for a Midlands couple, according to SC Lottery officials.
Before leaving a Burger King parking lot, the husband told his wife he was going to run inside the convenience store next door.
“I asked him to get me two of the pink tickets,” the wife said.
She scratched the $3 Lady Jumbo Bucks Crossword tickets from the Pitt Stop #2 on Broad River Road in Irmo in their car.
“I thought I won $1,000,” she said.
Lottery officials said on the way home, she counted the words on her ticket again and realized she had missed one, as the scratch-off was actually worth $100,000.
“I about jumped out of my skin,” she said.
The wife told South Carolina Education Lottery officials that she was overwhelmed with joy after finding out what she won.
The couple plans to spend their win on home improvements.
