Sumter man wanted for pistol whipping toddler, adult inside store

SUMTER, SC (WOLO) — A Sumter man is wanted by police for pistol-whipping a toddler and adult during an assault at a store on Broad Street.

According to the Sumter Police Department, a reward of up to $2,500 is being offered for the location of 32-year-old Rayshon Jamaal Foster.

He faces multiple charges for the incident including possession of a firearm by a person convicted of a violent felony, three counts of pointing and presenting a firearm and two counts of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.

Officers say the suspect walked in the store, pulled a gun and then struck a 21-year-old man multiple times — also striking the 2-year-old baby he was holding.

Both the man and toddler were injured and taken to Prisma Health Tuomey, where they were treated and later released.

Foster is considered armed and dangerous.
