SC releases list of most giving charities

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — It’s the time of year when people give to charities, and South Carolina Secretary of State Mark Hammond is releasing his annual list of Angels and Scrooges.
Wednesday, Hammond released the 2014 list at the Statehouse in Columbia.
Each year, Hammond’s office releases a list of Angels, charities that spend the least on overhead and devote most of the money they raise to those in need, and Scrooges, charities that spend most of the money that comes in on program costs.
