Rochester named new editor at The Herald of Rock Hill

ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) — Mark Rochester, a former executive with The Associated Press, has been named the new editor for The Herald of Rock Hill.

Rochester, who begins work at The Herald on Nov. 16, succeeds Paul Osmundson, who rejoined The State newspaper of Columbia in August.

The newspaper reports (http://bit.ly/1RZLLVC) the 51-year-old Rochester had been assistant bureau chief for the AP in San Francisco, covering California, Nevada and Hawaii. He was also deputy managing editor at The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, overseeing digital strategy and content, and investigations.

While Rochester was at the Post-Gazette, the newspaper was cited by industry groups and publications, for its digital innovation and online narrative storytelling projects.

Rochester also held senior management positions at The Denver Post, Newsday and The Indianapolis Star. He was also a reporter at several newspapers.
