“And what happened out there is unfortunate. Unfortunate. And by all means we’re still investigating what happened out there because I don’t know what caused SFC Contreras to die. I want to know as well,” says CSM Rickey Jackson.

“I always talk to him and tell him to always shoot for what he wants, to be what he wants to be in life. And this ain’t the place to be at. Everybody makes mistakes, but you gotta correct them and do better. That’s why I chose this book,” says the inmate.
“MS (multiple sclerosis) is not going to stop me. It’s not the end all, tell all,” says Mitchell.

“He came out shooting at our deputies. The two individual deputies that were the initial ones on scene, as soon as they arrived, and exited their vehicle, he shot at them with a pistol,” Deputy Chief Maria Yturria says.
“I thoroughly feel just as warm about Lakeview today as I did back then,” says Isola Washington-Calhoun, who graduated from Lakeview High in 1947.
