For the second time in three days the Clemson women’s soccer team found itself trailing in the first half but bounced back to record a 2-1 victory over UNC Wilmington at Historic Riggs Field Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Tigers improved to 3-0 on the season.

The Tigers split the final day of the Big Orange Bash on Saturday, defeating Charleston Southern, 3-1 (25-18, 25-27, 25-18, 25-16) in game one and falling to Appalachian State, 3-0 (16-25, 28-30, 14-25). The win over CSU marks Coach Hernesman’s first victory as a Tiger.
Eighth ranked South Carolina fell 2-1 to 23rd ranked Clemson on Friday night at Riggs Field in women’s soccer action. The Gamecocks are now 2-1-0 on the year, while the win lifted the Tigers to 2-0 for the season.

Clemson head football coach Dabo Swinney announced Tuesday D.J. Reader will be taking an indefinite leave of absence from the team. The senior was listed as a starting defensive tackle and was one of the two players Swinney took to the ACC’s preseason media event this summer.

Clemson is #12 in the preseason Associated Press Top 25 poll released Sunday afternoon. USC, ranked 9th in last year’s preseason poll, did not receive any votes.
