Gamecocks Get by Elon 3-2
Three South Carolina pitchers combined for 16 strikeouts and the second ranked Gamecocks held off a late Elon rally to earn a 3-2 win on Saturday afternoon in front of 7,606 fans at Carolina Stadium.

Clemson Drops Opener To Maine, 6-5
Maine scored all six of its runs on two-out hits and held on to edge #16 Clemson 6-5 at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Friday afternoon. Maine improved to 1-0 on the season and took a 1-0 series lead, while the Tigers dropped to 2-2 in 2012.
USC Almost No-Hits Elon In 8-1 Win
Second ranked South Carolina came one out away from a no-hitter and was backed by an offense that featured Christian Walker tallying two hits including a homer and five RBI as the Gamecocks defeated Elon 8-1 on Friday evening in game one of a three-game college baseball series. South Carolina improves to 4-0 on the year while the loss drops Elon to 4-1. Game two of the series is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at Carolina Stadium.
Irmo’s Johnson Eliminated In Sweet 16

A’dia Mathies scored 21 points and the No. 13 Kentucky women defeated South Carolina 53-50 on Thursday night. La’Keisha Sutton scored 14 points, and Bruner had 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Gamecocks (20-8, 9-6).
Local Coach Gets National Honor
