SC Democrats call for independent hacking probe

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Democratic lawmakers are calling for an independent investigation of South Carolina's hacked state tax returns and want tax credits for residents who have to deal with having their identities stolen.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Nearly 400 nonprofits and local governments will receive bills totaling $542,000 after South Carolina's unemployment agency mistakenly undercharged employers for three quarters.

Dems Demand Answers from Haley on Hacking Incident

Democratic legislators are calling for three things in the wake of a statewide hacking debacle: an independent investigation; tax credits for citizens possibly damaged in the scandal; and reimbursement to those whose assets are stolen as a result of the data that was compromised.
