Clemson Free Falls, USC Steady In BCS Standings

The latest BCS standings have USC holding steady at #12 and Clemson free falling ten spots to #17. The Gamecocks are coming off a 41-20 win against The Citadel. Clemson fell 37-13 at NC State. USC and Clemson kick off just after 7:45 p.m. this Saturday on ESPN.

Cops: SC worker kills assisted-living home client

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — An 82-year-old woman living in a Rock Hill assisted living home was killed by a nurse's aide at the facility less than a day after she accused the worker of forging her checks, authorities said.

Charge Dropped Against Man in 2005 Anderson Death

ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) _ Prosecutors have dropped a murder charge against a 24-year-old man, saying Anderson County deputies made mistakes that make it legally and ethically impossible to take the case to trial. Raymond Groves was charged last summer in the 2005 killing of 44-year-old James ``Pete'' Wells, who was shot in the parking lot of a Chinese restaurant as he took food to his car.

Prosecutor Barry Barnette says 31-year-old James Lee McKelvey was sentenced Wednesday after pleading guilty to felony driving under the influence with a death.

President Picks SC Advisor For Reelection Bid

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) _ President Barack Obama will use a former South Carolina campaign leader as a senior advisor in his re-election bid. Obama's campaign said Thursday that Rick Wade will be in charge of South Carolina political affairs. Wade is also advising the Democratic National Committee on its 2012 convention in Charlotte.
