COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say a small town South Carolina police officer was arrested after he accidentally dialed his cell phone while sexually assaulting a girl, allowing her mother to hear what happened.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) _ The American Civil Liberties union and other civil rights groups have filed a lawsuit to block South Carolina's illegal immigration law. The group's lawsuit was filed in Charleston on Wednesday and says the new law is unconstitutional and would spark racial profiling.

SC Teen Bit By Rabid Raccoon

ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) _ South Carolina health officials are warning Anderson County residents to stay away from wild animals and not try to keep them as pets after a teen was exposed to rabies by a raccoon. The Department of Health and Environmental Control said Wednesday that the teen boy was bitten by the raccoon when he tried to pick the animal up in the woods and carry it home.

Cops Find Carjacking Teens Asleep in Stolen Car

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) _ Richland County deputies say they found two carjacking suspects asleep in the car they stole just hours earlier. Investigators said three men approached a man at a gas station around 1 a.m. Saturday asking for a ride. The man said the suspects beat and robbed him after he took them where they wanted to go.
