Special counsel report says Trump would've been convicted for Jan. 6 'unprecedented criminal effort'

Special counsel Jack Smith said his team โ€œstood up for the rule of lawโ€ as it investigated President-elect Donald Trumpโ€™sย efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election, writing inย a much-anticipated reportย released Tuesday that he stands fully behind his decision to bring criminal charges that he believes would have resulted in a conviction had voters not returned Trump to the White House.

Power returns for residents of Prosperity

Around 600 people in the Town of Prosperity were without power Friday night and most of Saturday after Town officials say an abandoned CSX train car kept Duke Energy crews from working on a downed power line.
