CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Organizers of a new program allowing hospitals in the Charleston area to exchange emergency room medical records electronically says it is saving time for patients and money for the health care system.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A Lancaster County fire chief who died of a heart attack after helping put out a blaze is among firefighters being honored at a ceremony in Columbia.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) _ The Education Oversight Committee wants legislators to put more money in a teacher loan program meant to encourage students to teach in South Carolina's needy schools. The group also recommends changing how a needy school is defined, to at least 80 percent of students living in poverty, up from 70 percent.
