Spurrier Clarifies Clemson Remarks

Steve Spurrier avoided more talk about his future at his weekly press conference Tuesday to preview Saturday's final home game of the season against South Alabama. Spurrier was asked if he'd made a final decision on coaching next season, he referred to a statement he made two weeks ago saying the plan was for him to come back for the 2015. Winthrop Hoops Upsets Clemson 77-74

Clutch shooting from the free throw line and three-point line propelled Winthrop to a 77-74 victory over Clemson in Littlejohn Coliseum on Monday. The Tigers struggled in both areas, conversely, and fell to 1-1 on the season. The Eagles moved to 2-0 on the young season.

Game Time On Hold For Carolina-Clemson

Carolina and Clemson fans will have to continue to put their plans on hold for the annual rivalry football game. Monday ESPN declared game time for the Nov. 29th match-up in Death Valley will not be announced until after this Saturday's games.

Clemson Soccer Gets NCAA 1st Round Bye

The Clemson men’s soccer team hosts a second round match in the NCAA Tournament at Historic Riggs Field on Sunday, Nov. 23. The Tigers learned on Monday afternoon that they are the No. 7 National Seed, have a first-round bye, and will face the winner of the Nov. 20 match between Florida Gulf Coast and Coastal Carolina. Sunday’s game is scheduled for 7 p.m., and ticket information will be available on ClemsonTigers.com soon.

Leggett Signs Top 10 Recruiting Class

Head Coach Jack Leggett announced the signing of 10 players to the program Monday. Associate Head Coach Dan Pepicelli and Assistant Head Coach/Recruiting Coordinator Bradley LeCroy along with Leggett all had a hand in signing the class, whose members are slated to wear a Tiger uniform starting in the 2016 season.

Watson Has Knee Sprain, Listed Day-To-Day

Head Coach Dabo Swinney received good news from his medical staff Sunday night. Freshman quarterback Deshaun Watson and senior offensive guard David Beasley do not have major injuries and could return this season. Watson has a sprained LCL and a bone bruise, while Beasley was diagnosed with Patellar tendon inflammation. Both were injured in Clemson’s loss at Georgia Tech on Saturday. Watson went out in the first quarter with Clemson ahead 3-0. “We received some great news tonight,” said Swinney. “Both players are not seriously injured, something we feared Saturday. They are listed day-to-day and their status will be evaluated later this week.”

D'Angelo Leads USC To NCAA Win Over Clemson

South Carolina senior goalkeeper Sabrina D’Angelo delivered two saves in a nail-biting round of PKs to propel the No.3 seeded Gamecocks (13-5-4) past Clemson (13-3-3) and into the second round of the NCAA Tournament. A defensive struggle yielded a 0-0 tie after 110 minutes of play, and South Carolina rose to the challenge in the shootout.

Clemson Crushes FAMU In Season Opener 86-41

Behind a balanced scoring attack featuring five players in double figures, Clemson won its season opener Friday over Florida A&M by a score of 86-41. The Tigers won their 29th consecutive season opener and did it efficiently, posting 21 assists versus only five turnovers.

Tigers Make It To ACC Soccer Finals

The Clemson men’s soccer team advanced to the final of the ACC Tournament 5-4 in penalty kicks over No. 2 and defending national champion Notre Dame Friday night. This is the second consecutive match that the Tigers have advanced by penalty kicks in.

Clemson Hoops Officially Adds Two Prospects

Two prospects have signed national letters of intent with the Clemson men’s basketball program. Head coach Brad Brownell and his staff added Ty Hudson, a 6-foot-1 guard from Mableton, Ga., and Legend Robertin, a 7-foot junior college center originally from London, England.

Rodriguez Receives Armed Forces Merit Award

Daniel Rodriguez, a senior wide receiver and special-teams player at Clemson, is the third recipient of the Armed Forces Merit Award, presented by the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA). Coordinated by the staff at the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl, the Armed Forces Merit Award presented by the FWAA was created in June 2012 “to honor an individual and/or a group with a military background and/or involvement that has an impact within the realm of college football.”

USC & Clemson Women Set For NCAA Showdown

The South Carolina women’s soccer team earned its seventh trip to the NCAA Tournament in the last eight years when the 64-team field was announced Monday afternoon. The No. 3 seed Gamecocks will host the first round of the tournament, welcoming Clemson to Stone Stadium on Friday at 6 p.m.

Gallman Earns ACC Weekly Honors

Clemson freshman running back Wayne Gallman has been named ACC Rookie of the Week. Gallman gained 149 yards from scrimmage in Clemson’s 34-20 win at Wake Forest on November 6.

Clemson Wins Big In Exhibition Over Anderson

The men’s basketball team held Anderson to just eight field goals and a .157 shooting percentage in Clemson’s 62-36 exhibition victory in Littlejohn Coliseum on Saturday. The Tigers held the Trojans without a field goal for a 16:37 stretch that spanned the break, and saw the defense force 19 straight misses.

Tigers Tip Off Season Against Anderson

The men’s basketball program will hold its only public exhibition Saturday at 5 p.m. in Littlejohn Coliseum. Clemson hosts Anderson University, with admission free of charge. The game follows the women’s exhibition against Georgia State College and University at 2 p.m. Tickets are on sale for the regular season at ClemsonTigers.com or by calling 1-800-CLEMSON. The Tigers open the regular season at home on Friday, Nov. 14 against Florida A&M.

Watson Available Again For Clemson

Injured quarterback Deshaun Watson is healthy enough to return for No. 19 Clemson, although Tigers coach Dabo Swinney says he might not use the freshman against Wake Forest on Thursday night.

Beasley Makes Cut For Lombardi Award

Clemson defensive end Vic Beasley is one of 12 semifinalists for the 2014 Lombardi Award. The honor goes to the top lineman or linebacker in college football and will be presented December 10 in Houston, Texas.

ACC Narrows Down Clemson-Ga Tech Game Time

The Atlantic Coast Conference announced Monday the following game times and TV networks for its football games of Nov. 15. Saturday, Nov. 15 Clemson at Georgia Tech, Six Day Option Will be either Noon or 3:30p.m., and will be televised by ABC, ESPN or ESPN2.*

Spiller In Good Spirits Despite Injury

C.J. Spiller's spirits are high even though the Buffalo Bills running back says it's too early to determine whether his surgically repaired collarbone will be healed before the end of the season.
