Charged with a 2021 murder that occurred on Two Notch Drive at a Waffle House, Williams was the center of a domestic violence call Richland County deputies received Sunday afternoon.
South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson issued a statement following the passing of a bill that would allow bond restrictions for repeat criminal offenders.
Criminal defendants with repeat violent charges will have a harder time getting out of jail as they await trial and could spend more time in prison if they are convicted of the crime while out on bond, under a proposal heading to the South Carolina governor’s desk.
The governor said that if lawmakers pass a budget but fail to act on bond reform, he is considering keeping them at the statehouse until they send a bill to his desk.
Attorney General Alan Wilson and SLED Chief Keel sent a letter to state legislators urging them to pass bond reform.
“So before the General Assembly goes home in May, they need to pass bond reform and they need to see that we slam that revolving door, and have graduated penalties for committing these crimes with these illegal guns,” says Governor McMaster.
