A Midlands woman was sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty to fraud relating to more than $1.2 million of federal COVID-19 relief money, and to tax fraud.
The South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce says it has distributed more than $5 billion in unemployment benefits since the start of the pandemic. That works out to more than $500 million per month.
Governor Henry McMaster announced he is allocating money from the Governor’s Education Emergency Relief (GEER) fund. The GEER funds are provided to states through the CARES Act.
