A South Carolina man authorities have linked to the extremist group the Proud Boys faces a prison sentence after pleading guilty to threatening a former federal prosecutor. Court records show 47-year-old James Giannakos of Gilbert is scheduled for sentencing by a U.S. District Court judge June 29.
Federal prosecutors believe the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers coordinated before the January 6 riot at the Capitol. In a new court filing, the Justice Department alleges Kelly Meggs, a leader of the Oath Keepers, had Facebook chats about communications with Proud Boys leadership.
