Scout Motors Construction is underway in Blythewood but their temporary home is in the Bull Street District.
The $2 billion investment is set to bring 4,000 jobs to South Carolina. Scout Motors’ CEO expects the vehicles to be hitting the roadways of the Palmetto State by 2027.
The Governor’s Economic Summit stressed the importance of electric vehicles to the future of South Carolina, especially with the addition of Scout Motors coming to nearby Blythewood.
“There are streams on the site, so those needed to be mitigated, and the way we do that, is we purchase or secure mitigation properties in other parts of the counties or area, and that is a tradeoff for any of those wetlands or streams that will be impacted on site,” Ruble says.

In July, seven automakers pledged over $1 billion to create 30,000 more electric vehicle charging stations across North America — which officials say could double the approximate 900 charging ports currently available across South Carolina.
The agreement includes a $1.3 billion incentive package for Scout Motors.
