Dangerous Flooding across Midlands

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– President Obama declares State of Emergency in South Carolina due to flooding. ABC Columbia news is monitoring the rain system. Conditions: Extreme amounts of rain forecast continues for the Midlands and much of the Southeast US. Extremely heavy rain is expected through the upcoming Monday. . Hurricane Joaquin is not expected to make landfall in the US but that will not change much of the rain forecast for South Carolina. A stalled frontal boundary will trap dynamics and moisture over the area through the upcoming weekend. Flooding will an issue for much of the Carolinas. The potential of 12 to 18 inches or rain exists for a good portion of the state. The main area of rainfall has yet to be determined, but based on the latest data, it looks like it will line up near the Midlands. A Flash Flood Watch is in effect until Monday morning for every county in South Carolina. The intense rainfall across the state will pose life threatening conditions, it is imperative to have a plan and avoid low lying areas that are prone to flooding
