WATCH: RCSD sheriff identifies man accused of being connected to Jerk Hut shooting

 

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott identified a man deputies say opened fired at a Midlands restaurant killing one and injuring five.

Deputies say the shooting happened early Sunday morning, June 14, at the Jerk Hut on Zimalcrest Drive.

Sheriff Lott says the suspect is Zavius Jones.

Lott says he has a lengthy wrap sheet and was out on bond at the time of the shooting.

Richland County Coroner Naida Rutherford identified the victim as Ty’shon Vogt, 25, of Irmo.

Sheriff Lott added that the sheriff’s department and the county have declared the jerk hut a public nuisance and have revoked its business license.

Lott says deputies have responded to seven shootings in the last 65 days at the club.
