Tornado watch lifted for most of South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A tornado watch issued for a wide swath of South Carolina has been lifted for all but four counties.
The National Weather Service posted a watch Monday for 29 counties in the state. The watch covered an area from Rock Hill south through Columbia and continuing to Jasper Country. A watch meant conditions could result in strong storms and tornadoes.
By midafternoon, as a storm system moved through, the watch only remained in effect for Charleston, Berkeley, Dorchester and Colleton counties. But as the threat of storms diminished, forecasters warned of cold weather with a hard freeze expected across the state on Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
