Hunnewell Trial: Enters Day Five
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — The Hunnewell murder trial has entered Day 5. Prosecutors rest case. Defense set. Here’s a look at what has led up to Tuesday’s testimony. Monday brought the second week of the Hunnewell murder trial and photos of one of the suspects reportedly wearing a red hoodie and a ball cap. Lorenzo Young and Trenton Barnes are on trial for the murder of 33 year old Kelly Hunnewell, mother of four, in July 2013. Surveillance images from the crime scene show one of the suspects wearing a red hoodie. Also in court on Monday, prosecutors showed a video, reportedly taken from Young’s cell phone, showing Young joking about a gun. In the video the gun is described as a “glock .45” An investigator also testified that searches were made, from the phone number associated with Young’s cell phone, of news articles about the murder. The investigator said the dates for when someone clicked on the hyperlink and viewed the photos, submitted to the media by police, were July 1, 2013 and July 5, 2013. Kelly Hunnewell was killed on July 1, 2013. Young’s defense asked the investigator if there was a way to prove who made those searches from the phone. The investigator testified that unless he were sitting next to the person there is no way to be absolutely sure. However, he testified, there was a screen lock on the phone and whoever was using the phone to make those searches would’ve needed the password swipe pattern to unlock it. “Every time she would take a breath in, it was basically like she was drowning in her own blood,” said Amy Durso, Forensic Pathologist. Durso testified that Hunnewell died from a gunshot wound fired at close proximity. “She would’ve been in extreme distress and collapsed, or lost consciousness, within a minute or two and then died very quickly after that,” said Durso
