Brookland-Cayce boys soccer wins first state championship
The Bearcats held off a late comeback from Daniel High School to claim the SCHSL 3A state title with a 4-2 victory at Irmo High School Saturday afternoon.
Andrew Eyster had four hits and drove in four runs in the win. George Callil had two hits and scored three runs while Brady Allen, Josiah Sightler and Wes Clarke each drove in a pair.
Jack Anderson (2-0) earned the win in relief, while Tiger reliever Nick Hoffmann (4-1) suffered the loss.
Brett Kerry only needed 94 pitches to earn his fourth win of the season. It also was his first start of 2021.
The Tigers, who evened the series 1-1, improved to 24-22 overall and 16-16 in the ACC.
