Chester Jail Inmate Captured After Brief Escape

CHESTER, S.C. (AP) _ A Chester County jail inmate has been captured after he briefly escaped while at the Chester Regional Medical Center. Sheriff Richard Smith says officers captured 21-year-old Aaron Bianco Monday afternoon in some woods behind a home about 90 minutes after he escaped.

Power Restoration Intensified by Heat

Battling intense heat did cause some problems for South Carolina Electric & Gas work crews; however, workers took regular breaks and stayed hydrated to restore power to thousands of customers left in the dark due to weekend storms.

Man Gets 27 Years in Chester Club Shooting

CHESTER, S.C. (AP) _ A man has been sentenced to 27 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the shooting death of a man at a Chester nightclub nearly two years ago. The Herald of Rock Hill reported (http://bit.ly/KAZ6zK ) 24-year-old Keith Kenner entered the plea Monday in Chester. Keener originally was charged with murder.

USC Falls Short 4-1, Arizona Wins National Title

The Arizona Wildcats scored three times in the top of the ninth inning to defeat the South Carolina Gamecocks, 4-1 Monday night in game two of the best-of-3 College World Series Championship Series at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha. The hard-fought win in front of an announced attendance of 23,872 gave Arizona a sweep of the championship series and ended South Carolina’s hopes of a third-straight title.
