Three SC Guardsmen Killed in Afghanistan

Three South Carolina Army National Guard soldiers were killed in Afghanistan on Wednesday while conducting combat operations. 1st Lt. Ryan Davis Rawl, 30, of Lexington, Sgt. 1st Class Matthew Bradford Thomas, 30, of Easley and Spc. John David Meador II, 36, of Columbia were killed in Khowst City, Khowst Province, Afghanistan, when their patrol was attacked by a suicide bomber.

SC Senate Confirms State Inspector General

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) _ A 30-year FBI veteran will become South Carolina's first independent inspector general. The Senate voted unanimously on Thursday to confirm Patrick Maley (MAY'-lee), Gov. Nikki Haley's pick for the agency that investigates allegations of fraud, waste and abuse in state government.
